About this Event
Become a Junior Climate Detective and join Captain Koala as he investigates how the changing climate is affecting our plants and animals.
There will be plenty of opportunity for the Junior Detectives to explore the Wollongong Botanic Garden and to grow their own fire ready plant to take home. Bluey and Maggy the Garden Bush Fire Fighting team will also be there to share their tips for coping with the changing summer climate.
Daily activities include:
- Stop, Drop and Roll Show
- Captain Koala Treasure Hunt
- Fire Ready Planting Activity
Activities are suitable for children aged 3 to 10 years. Younger siblings may also participate. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Cost:
- $13.50 per child (ages 3+)
- Parents , carers and children under 3 years are free (ticket required upon entry).

COVID Safety:
This is a COVID Safe event, please note the following restrictions and conditions will be in place for everyone's safety:
- No ticket sales at the gate, pre-booking via Eventbrite only.
- All attendees aged 12 years and over must wear a face mask.
- We have a maximum capacity of 40 people per day. Groups of no more than 20 participants will rotate around activities.
- To help us manage attendee numbers, ticket holders can only attend on the day of their ticket. Transfers to other days can only be made with prior approval by Botanic Garden staff, and a new ticket will be issued.
- To ensure children have the best opportunity to attend this program with our limited numbers, we would appreciate only essential parents and carers attend.
- Please follow instructions from our COVID Marshalls and observe government advice on social distancing and stay 1.5m away from others at all times.
- If you or anyone in your group are feeling unwell, please stay at home.
On the day:
On arrival, please check in with your ticket (printed or displayed on your mobile phone) at the information desk located near the Discovery Centre.
Closest car park and entrance is 29 Madoline Street, Keiraville.
Drinks and snacks available for purchase from our on-site coffee van, Garden Grounds Cafe.
Refunds:
Full refunds will be issued to those cancelling with 7 days notice.
For cancellations due to illness (in less than 7 days), we will offer you a credit for use at our next School Holiday Program (notice must be given by 8am on the day of the event by emailing botanicgarden@wollongong.nsw.gov.au).
