School Holidays: Chess Workshop (Intermediate/Advanced)

Overview

Develop your chess skills in this fun, interactive school holiday workshop!

Learn your Queen’s Gambit from your Sicilian Defence at our school holiday workshop, taught by experienced instructors from PlantChess Coaching.

With two workshops available (Beginners and Intermediate/Advanced), participants will have the opportunity to learn more about chess strategies for their level.

They will also enjoy one-on-one games with other students to further develop their skills while being supported by expert instructors.


Spaces are limited, so bookings are essential.


Cost: Free

Age: 8-17 years

Equipment: All materials and equipment will be provided.

Experience: No experience required.


About the Facilitators

Plant Chess Coaching is run by John-Stuart Plant, one of Australia's top chess players and Nathan McLean, a successful businessman and teacher. With over a decade of experience teaching school students of all ages and abilities, John-Stuart has a unique gift for fostering a warm and welcoming environment, ensuring every class is fun and engaging for all students.

Terms and conditions:

  • For participants aged 10 years and under, parents and/or guardians of children must remain in the library for the duration of the program. For safety reasons, one parent/guardian can only be responsible for a maximum of 4 children (1:4 ratio).
  • For participants under the age of 16, parent and/or guardian contact details must be provided at the time of booking.
  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue.
  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces, repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations may result in bookings being refused in the future.
