Intermediate

If you have already completed day one and two of the beginners course or you have similar experience you can progress to the Intermediate course.

In this course you will get to practise more on the sewing machines and sew some really cool  PJ's.

The maximum number of students is five so each student will get personalised instructions and plenty of time to practise on the sewing machines supplied.

*This course is strictly for kids aged 10 and up as the children need to be able to follow instructions which can be a little complex sometimes. Also, they must have developed fine motor skills allowing them to be able to thread a needle independently, sew in straight lines and curves and also be able to reach the pedal of the sewing machine on the floor.

Please only book if your child is 10 and up..

What you will learn.

• Improve on machine sewing skills

• Finishing seams

• Reading and understanding sewing pattern instructions

• Inserting elastic into casings

• Hemming techniques

What to bring.

• 2.5 meters of flannelette fabric if less than 140cm wide
• or 1.5 meters of flannelette fabric if more than 140cm wide
• 1 meter of 2.5cm wide elastic
• Thread to match the colour of fabric

Flannelette fabric can be purchased from Spotlight, Lincraft or most fabric stores. Take this list and ask for help instore if you are unsure. Please wash and dry your fabric before the class to eliminate any shrinkage

Please provide allergy free snacks, lunch and water bottle for your child. Also, make sure your child is wearing closed toe shoes. (no sandals or thongs).

The sewing studio has professional equipment such as sewing machines and irons which is monitored at all times. Due to the potentially dangerous nature of the sewing equipment and tools, our priority is tokeep students safe. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to ensure the proper placement of the child with regard to the child’s skill level. If your child needs support at school or is attending a special development school, please let us know before the class as your child may require support by a parent or carer.
