Description

PORTRAITS- You Are a Nice Person!

Make an artwork all about you - just for you, like a present for yourself. You can have fun making a portrait of yourself and include all the good and nice things that make you special . You can use it to make yourself feel better when you need to.

Participants take part in a guided tour and engage with the artwork in the exhibition “We Are All Affected” and find ways to decrease anxiety or simply feel better about themselves. Use the act of making art and its outcome in a great positive experience.

(Age 5-14 Years)*

*For all activities children must be accompanied by an adult or guardian aged 18+ who is welcome to join in.

We Are All Affected is the second part of a two part series of multi-faceted exhibitions being held across Western Sydney. Part 1 was held at the Multicultural Eid Festival of Fairfield in July 2017, as an experimental pop-up style exhibition designed to engage members of the community hrough an interactive experience with the artists and their works. What follows is an evolution of these works in response to the community. We Are All Affected spans across two venues, Fairfield City Museum & Gallery and Peacock Gallery & Auburn Arts Studio, where the artists share their creative interpretation of what is fast becoming a culturally specific form of anxiety.

The exhibiting artists are part of Eleven; a collective of Australian Muslim artists, curators and writers. This exhibition is part of The Big Anxiety - Festival of Arts + Science + People, an initiative of UNSW: www.thebiganxiety.org
