Event description

Description

The Symposium theme is CULTURALLY INCLUSIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING

Aligned with culturally inclusive practices, the Symposium provides time and space for us to engage with stories of effective, culturally inclusive teaching and learning practice, and reflect on how we might deepen our own teaching practices and the learning experiences of our students.

In the morning we will address the theme in general through a keynote, student panel and yarning circles, and in the afternoon focus on the five Symposium questions through staff presentations and yarning circles. The Symposium questions are:

What appropriate and respectful teaching practices do you use when teaching diverse students?

  1. What culturally inclusive practices do you use when teaching students online?
  2. How do you draw on the diverse cultures students bring to your classes to enrich the learning experience of all students?
  3. How have you implemented GA7 or the RAP in teaching practice, curriculum design or assessment?
  4. How do you support first year students with their transition into a university culture?

Contributions

We invite short answers (100-200 words) from all attending that address the Symposium questions. These will be collated and displayed on posters at the Symposium. You can submit your short answers to one or more of the questions via this online form.
