Event description

Description

If you’re a clinician in the healthcare sector, are working with clients who struggle with maladaptive behaviour / cognitions and interpersonal problems, and want to find ways-and-means to address these enduring patterns via Schema Therapy – then this training day is for you.

Schema Therapy was first developed by Dr. Jeffrey Young as a way to integrate psychodynamic, attachment, and cognitive-behavioural therapies to address certain 'lifetraps' (or schemas) identified within his clientele. Since its introduction nearly forty years ago; Schema Therapy has been a useful modality for addressing longstanding problems of maladaptivity (from intensive intervention to simple self-help), and has itself been adapted and endorsed by clinicians and clients worldwide (including here in Australia).

This training day will introduce you to the fundamentals of Schema Therapy, covering the following areas:

- Origins and Constructs of Schemas and their Domains.

- Maladaptive Coping Responses / Styles and Schema Modes.

- Assessment and Education Phases of Intervention.

- Therapeutic Phases of Intervention.

Those attending will be provided with an accompanying booklet on the material covered, access to electronic resources, as well as lunch and morning / afternoon tea.

Presenter:
Graeme Lamont - MPsych (Clinical)
