Event description

Description

Deforestation is Queensland’s largest unseen environmental crisis. Queensland has cleared (roughly 300,000 hectares a year) more forest than any other state in Australia – the equivalent of a Gabba Cricket Ground every 3 minutes.

In the last two decades, koala numbers around Brisbane alone have crashed by up to 80 per cent – driving the state’s threatened species dangerously towards extinction.

The current legislation that is meant to conserve our precious environment is failing us - as well as our iconic flora and fauna that we, and so many people worldwide, adore. Queensland’s environmental laws must be changed now to secure the protection of our native forests – and in turn, the health and wellbeing of entire communities.

Come along to a presentation co-hosted by The Wilderness Society, Pine Rivers Koala Care Association and the Environmental Defenders Office Queensland.

  • Learn how you can help end this crisis by demanding stronger environmental legislation.
  • Gain valuable knowledge and skills needed to have your concerns heard by Queensland decision-makers - to stop clearing of koala habitat and your favourite urban green spaces.

Together, we can end Queensland’s biggest hidden environmental crisis.
