Save Our Koalas Lismore Doorknock!
Event Information
Description
On Saturday the 16th of February we’re knocking on doors across Lismore to #SaveOurKoalas, can you join us?
The NSW Government is trying to hide the fact that deforestation has halved koala numbers on the North Coast in just 20 years. And with new laws passed a year ago, 99% of identified koala habitat on private land can be bulldozed leaving next to no protections for koala habitat.
So we are getting out and about having face-to-face conversations in our communities to make sure people understand the extent of the crisis facing koalas - and how we can end it once and for all.
To end the deforestation crisis, we will push all political parties to get serious and commit to:
+ Strong laws to protect forests and bushlands
+ Make koala habitat off limits to deforestation
+ Support landowners to restore healthy landscapes
Right now door-knocking is the most powerful tool we can use to end the deforestation crisis. We've got a lot of people to talk to so we have to start now.
We will be a running a full training session which covers how to have positive and engaging conversations, how our doorknocking operation will run and lots of helpful tips!
When: 3pm - 7pm Saturday 16 February
Where: Mortimer Oval, cnr Uralba St and Brewster St, Lismore (https://goo.gl/maps/DUuzaCCDvZN2)
