Event description
Restorative Yoga + Sound Bath Immersion - Deeply relax, meditate, and explore body connection and sound as a means of self-healing.

About this Event

  • Are you experiencing tension in your body and finding it difficult to wind down?
  • Feeling depleted and lacking energy?
  • Are you seeking a deeper connection to your body and its rhythms?
  • Do you want to experience a heart-based practice and deepen your connection to self?

Saturday Sanctuary... is a nourishing space where you will be led into an exploration of stillness and sound through restorative yoga and sound healing.

You will be guided to deeply relax, meditate and explore body connection and sound as a means of self-healing. Beginning with a calming and rejuvenating restorative yoga sequence and followed by the sacred, healing sounds of a majestic gong, crystal bowls, rain sticks, ocean drum and other elemental instruments.

Restorative yoga works on bringing calm and equilibrium to the bodymind, and works on the deeper layers of the body, which are untouched by faster, flowing (yang) practice. Restorative yoga soothes the nervous system, quiets the mind and builds awareness.

A 'sound bath' or 'gong meditation' involves simply laying comfortably and cosily, cocooned in the vibrations of the gongs and other instruments. The sounds move you into a theta (brain) wave state of deep relaxation, meditation and transformation. Sound healing is becoming increasingly popular in helping regain healthy resonance; physically, energetically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Restorative Yoga and Sound Healing can assist you to:

  • Experience a deeper connection with your body and support physical release
  • Feel energised and rejuvenated – you don’t have to use energy, to get energy!
  • Enhance recovery from injury, surgery, or illness
  • Reduce stress and support symptoms of depression and anxiety
  • Support chronic illnesses such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Adrenal Fatigue, and Fibromyalgia
  • Relieve headaches, migraines and muscular tension and tightness
  • Tap into intuition, creativity and cultivate a connection with your heart
  • Bypass the mind’s chatter and move into deeper states of consciousness

To close the day, we’ll enjoy some grounding tea and chai and optional sharing/questions.

*No experience necessary - beginners welcome!*

What to bring

Please bring your own yoga mat (bolsters and blocks provided) and a towel to cover the bolster. Also bring an eye mask or scarf (to cover your eyes), extra layers, warm socks, a cushion and blanket to keep you cosy and comfortable during the sound bath.

Testimonials

“Hayley provides a safe, authentic and nurturing yoga space. The restorative class was something I have never experienced before. I felt amazing afterwards this feeling went on for days. I would highly recommend Hayley’s classes.” Sarah J

"Going into the sound healing I had an idea of what I wanted the experience to be like. What actually happened was the complete opposite, and ended up being exactly what I needed! Each troubling issue present in my life at the time came to mind one by one, and were gently unravelled until they were no longer troubling. I came out feeling so clear and at peace” Ebony W

More about Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga has been found to be an antidote to stress. Restorative yoga focuses on relaxation, renewal, effortlessness, ease and breath. With the utilisation of props (e.g. bolsters and blocks) it safely supports the body in postures that are held for an extended period of time, increasing the therapeutic benefits of the pose. This essentially leads to soothing your nervous system, quieting your mind and releasing deeply held tension.

More about Sound Healing

Sound healing stress reduction by breaking up emotional blockages within the body and eases you into a state of meditation. Each session is different, depending on your needs and energy in that moment. Many people experience profound relaxation and physical release, others see images and colours. You may slip into deep meditation, tap into intuition or leave with greater mental clarity. Probably the most common result is the best night's sleep you've had in years!
