Description

DEUTSCHE BANK COMMISSIONS DOUBLE TAKE BY ROBYN STACEY

Sydney Contemporary Principal Partner, Deutsche Bank, has commissioned award-winning, Australian artist Robyn Stacey to create Double Take, a site-specific, walk-in 'camera obscura' at the entrance to the Fair.

Stacey's Double Take is a walk-in 'camera obscura' (Latin for "dark room") that inverts a real-time 'cinematic projection' of the exterior view onto its interior walls, ceiling and floor, and that will be situated at the entrance to the Fair and open to the public.

While Stacey has been transforming entire rooms into walk-in camera obscuras since 2013, this is the first time she will create a standalone art experience for an art fair.

Both the interior and the exterior of Stacey’s installation will be activated, with the mirrored casing of the cube being lit at night to create fields of colour against the night sky. By day, the mirrored cube will reflect back its surrounds.
