Event description

Description

Whether it's been on your "to do" list for ages and your Pinterest board is overflowing with inspiration and you don't know where to begin, or you've attended a few classes and can't wait to learn more, look no further than Ceramics - Handbuilding with Clay. This set of classes allows you to pick and choose from a variety of options, from serving ware to preparing your work for the kiln, with a glazing session in the final week.

Do something special for yourself and join local clay artist and sculptor, Carolyn Warren-Langford in her own private studio for fun, relaxing Saturday afternoon sessions where you can unwind from a busy week, get your hands into gorgeous clay and create your very own treasure from a blob of mud all without the pottery wheel!

Three hour sessions give you that little bit of extra time to take your time to refine your creation and small class sizes provide plenty of opportunity for individual attention throughout the class.

All materials, equipment and firing is included in these three hour classes.

All of these classes are suitable for beginners as well as those who have had some experience with clay.

October 19 12:30 - 3:30

Tableware sets - Tea and scones or coffee and cake?

Enjoy the pleasure of drinking a relaxing cup of tea from a cup formed by your own hands. Afternoon tea always tastes better from tableware you made yourself!

October 26 12:30 - 3:30

Tricks of the trade - Preparing your work for firing

After all that hard work, ceramics doesn't always turn out as expected - clay is a fickle material and sometimes has a mind of its own! This class is perfect for learning about drying your work, preparing your greenware for the kiln and the prevention and repair of faults to give your pre-fired work the best chance at success in the firing process.

All materials, equipment and firing is included in these three hour classes.

Dress for mess - Aprons provided

Coffee and tea provided - BYO snacks!

Nov 9 1:30 - 3:30

GLAZING DAY

Glazing week is your final opportunity for this year to apply glaze to your fired creations before they are fired for the final time. They will be ready to collect and take home to use and treasure approximately one week after the session
