Event description

Description

After the popularity of our upcycling furniture demo last year, furniture is under the spotlight again in this workshop presented by Brisbane City Council as part of the Recycling Art Competition 2017.

Create your own, one-of-a-kind upcycled stool or chair using interesting offcuts of fabrics, hessian coffee sacks and other discarded materials from the Reverse Garbage Queensland warehouse. Do-it-yourself restoration is a great way to extend the useful life of your furniture, update your interior fashion and save money on paying a professional.

Suitable for ages 13+.

Can I bring my own chair?
You may bring along your own stool or chair for restoration. However, your chair should have an easy-to-remove seat and/or back to enable re-upholstering. This means that it can be unscrewed, de-stapled, or otherwise easily disassembled.

Will there be chairs available for purchase?
There will be some stools and chairs available for purchase.

What if I cannot complete the project in time?
The workshop will include a hands-on element, but you will be shown the skills needed to complete the project at home in case you're unable to finish your project.

This is a free event, but spaces are limited. Please only RSVP if you are able to attend, and please adjust your RSVP if your availability changes so another person can have your spot.
