SALAMAT PO! AUSTRALIA (Thank you, Australia) - A Heartfelt Celebration of Gratitude by the Filipino Community initiated by Filipino Barrio Fiesta Brisbane Inc.

It is our community’s way of saying thank you to Australia—a nation that has welcomed us, embraced our diversity, and allowed us to flourish.

As Filipino migrants, we reflect on the journeys that brought us here: the dreams we carried, the challenges we faced, and the opportunities we’ve embraced. Today, we have our own stories—of resilience, joy, and belonging—that are now part of the broader Australian narrative.

This celebration begins on Australia Day with a Pasalamat—a Thanksgiving Eucharistic Mass. Through prayer, song, and shared traditions, we honor the land that gave us a new beginning. We also pay deep respect to the First Nations peoples, whose enduring connection to Country spans more than 65,000 years. Their story is the foundation of this nation, and we acknowledge it with reverence. SALAMAT PO! Australia is more than an event. It is a gesture of unity. A celebration of multic ulturalism. A recognition that we, too, are part of the Australian story.
