About this event

The Safeness by Design: Urban Contexts exhibition features design proposals resulting from three collaborative research projects between designers at RMIT School of Design and the planners and strategists from two international cities, Barcelona and Melbourne:

  • the Safe Mobility with Covid-19 (2020) project - solutions for coronavirus impacted urban landscapes with a focus on safe solutions for public transport, personal mobility, and local communities,
  • the Safe Mobility in Barcelona (2019-20) project - innovative responses to safety and civic planning issues surrounding the use of e-scooters in Barcelona’s busy metropolis, and
  • the Safe City Smart City (2019) project - design solutions for the 24-hour city, with a focus on safe mobility and the safety of women transitting the city at night.

Please note that this is an limited capacity invitation only event and Covid-safe protocols are in place.

Registration in advance is essential to gain entry to the venue.

Please do not attend this event if you have any COVID-19 symptoms, have been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, or have been directed to isolate in the last 14 days. Face masks may be required in some RMIT spaces.
