Training in WHS & Manual Handling is essential for staff and volunteers to meet two of the four Commonwealth Home Services Program (CHSP) training requirements: Manual Handling and WHS.
This nationally-recognised, accredited session covers the skills and knowledge required for a worker to participate in safe work practices. These competencies ensure participants own health and safety, and that of others in work environments that involve caring directly for clients. It has a focus on maintaining safety of the worker, the people being supported and other community members.
This session applies to all workers who require knowledge of workplace health and safety (WHS) to carry out their own work, in both centre-based and home-based service provision.
Work Health And Safety (WHS)
- WHS legal responsibilities of officers, workers, volunteers and others
- Importance of WHS consultation
- Defining hazard and risk in the workplace
- Effectively assessing common hazards and determining how to eliminate or control the risk
- Understanding what to do in an emergency
- What is manual handling?
