Safe Schools WA - July School Holiday Workshops

Safe Schools Coalition WA are holding TWO free staff PD workshop sessions in the July School Holidays at the Freedom Centre in Perth!

These workshops are for school-based workers who are interested in learning more about how to create safe and inclusive school environments for same sex attracted, intersex and gender diverse students, staff and families.

This workshop is still our introductory session content however, it will be held over a half day based on feedback from other participants who wished the sessions ran for more time to allow for further questions and discussion. The dates are as follows (The workshops will be the same so there is no need to attend both):

• Thursday 6th July - 9.30am - 2pm @ Freedom Centre
• Wednesday 12th July - 9.30am - 2pm @ Freedom Centre

We will cover;

• About Safe Schools Coalition and the support and resources available to schools
• Exploring concepts, language and terminology
• Education, legal and policy frameworks
• Research on the experiences of same sex attracted and gender diverse young people in schools
• Good practice tips and strategies and ideas for kickstarting LGBTI+ inclusivity at your school
• Resources and follow up support available

This workshop is for school staff: teachers, school leadership, school nurses, school psychologists, school chaplains, youth workers and social workers. Please note that this workshop is not suitable for parents/carers or young people.

There's no need to print your ticket as we will have a sign in sheet on the day.
