About this event

SAE Perth is opening its doors this April for the SAE Create for a day, a one-day program to expand your skills and get you working on inspiring creative projects in the fields of Animation, Audio, Design, Film, Games, Music Production or Songwriting.

Are you creatively inclined and thinking about studying creative media? We are offering an exclusive one-day workshop event in the April school holidays – get behind the scenes and pursue your passion!

When: 2 JULY 2022

Don’t miss out on your chance to experience life as an SAE student, and discover what it means to be a creative professional in state-of-the-art facilities with industry experts by your side.

On the day, attendees will learn valuable practical and collaborative skills as they work towards building a creative piece of work. They will also receive a certificate of participation to acknowledge the creative project they have undertaken.

Due to the tertiary level of the workshop content, this event is open to anyone aged 15yrs and above (Year 10 and over).

Spaces for this event are extremely limited.

All workshops types run at the same time, therefore only one workshop type can be attended by an individual.

Cost: $25 per person (inc GST)

ANIMATION

Unleash the illusion and magic of movement!

Learn the practical skills used in 2D animation & 3D modelling, and apply visual effects to bring your design to life.

AUDIO

Step into our world-class studios and be introduced to the principles of studio sound production, including recording and music production software, studio signal flow, microphone techniques, and other audio elements including post-production and mixing techniques.

If the thought of a career in Audio is music to your ears, you'll love our Audio workshop!

DESIGN

Embrace the exciting world of communicating with visuals!

We’ll introduce you to the design process, utilising Adobe design software, layout and typography concepts, branding and photo manipulation.

FILM

Lights, camera, action!

Discover the principles of film production, from screenwriting and storyboarding, camera operation to technical production on set, lighting, sound, editing and post-production techniques.

GAMES

Love games? Wanted to know more about the process of Games Development? Then this is the workshop for you!

We’ll introduce you to the principles of Games Development, including games software, programming languages, games design principles and psychology, prototyping, covering both analog and digital games concepts.

MUSIC PRODUCTION

Experience life as a music producer as you are taken through the process of creating a track.

Within the one-day workshop, you'll learn sequencing, synthesis, mixing, and more! Our expert mentors will guide you through all the ins and outs of producing music using industry-standard software.

SONGWRITING

If you're passionate about songwriting, you are going to love our songwriting workshop!

Learn the tricks of the trade from professional songwriters while you work on a fun, collective collaboration.

COVID-Safe Guidelines

As per the WA Government's guidelines, SAE has strict COVID-Safe measures in place to protect your health, as well as the health of our staff & students.

These measures include:

- Social distancing (1.5m apart) at all times on campus

- Maximum occupancy in each room as posted on the door

- Upon arriving at campus, attendees must review and sign our Physical Distancing Agreement. You will only need to do this once.

- Each attendee must also sign in to our Contact Tracing System at Reception before proceeding into the campus. You will have to do this at the beginning of each day.

- If you are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19, please do not come to campus.

These measures are all subject to change as informed by the WA Department of Health.

In the event that we are required to cancel Create for a Day due to WA Government COVID-19 restrictions, ticket holders will receive a full refund.

Is the event COVID-Safe?

Yes - strict COVID-Safe measures are in place to protect your health, as well as the health of our staff & students. Please see above for more information.

How does the schedule work?

Attendees will arrive before 10 am and spend the day in the classroom in their field of choice. Lunch will be provided on campus and at the end of the day students will go back home. No accommodation is provided in the cost of the ticket. Please advise of any dietary requirements asap - email l.bowra@sae.edu

What is the main purpose of this event?

This is not an Open Day. SAE Create for a Day is a one-day workshop event, where students get the chance to try equipment and work on real coursework, in order to assist with their career decision making. Attendees spend their day in the classroom, working with lecturers and industry professionals, to experience what student life is like at SAE.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Yes - this event is open to school students aged 15yrs and above (Year 10 and over)

What are my transport options for getting to the event?

Arriving by Car

Free parking is available on Normanby Road and behind the campus on Woodgate Street. However parking can be limited during peak times.

Public Transport

We recommend choosing public transport. The closest bus stop is Montague St & Normanby Rd (2 minute walk), while the closest tram stop is stop 126 (Montague St) on the 109 route (4 minute walk).

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

No, all tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Spaces are very limited due to the popularity of this event.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Please have your printed ticket or email version available for the reception team upon arrival, as proof of your purchase.

What is the refund/cancellation policy?

All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Spaces are very limited due to the popularity of these events, and we like to ensure that no one misses out on the opportunity.

If the event is cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions as enforced by the VIC Government, full refunds will be issued to ticket holders.

1. Change of Mind

Sorry, we are unable to provide refunds for change of mind.

2. Event Cancellation

In the unlikely event that Create for a Day workshops are cancelled (due to changes in COVID-19 restrictions, or any other reason), participants will be notified and a full refund will be provided. In this event, the organiser will contact you to process your refund within one week of the event cancellation. Refunds will be processed back to the same card originally used to make the purchase.

3. Transfer to a Different Workshop

We understand that it can be difficult to decide which of our exciting workshops to attend. If you wish for your ticket to be transferred to a different workshop, at the same campus, please contact the organiser directly via phone during business hours on 03 8632 3400. Ticket transfers from one workshop to another can only be made if places remain. The organiser reserves the right to deny a ticket transfer.

4. Transfer to Another Person or Campus

Tickets are not transferable to another person or SAE campus.

5. SAE Promotional Material

By purchasing a Create for a day ticket, you agree to SAE using any creative material that you produce during the workshop in its social channels and promotional material.
