Professional Development for yoga & meditation teachers
This 1 day intensive aims to provide teachers/trainee teachers with the skills, knowledge and confidence to bring uplifting mantras and sound practices into their teaching. This is intensive professional development tailored to meet the needs of teachers.
We will explore mantra and chanting as a way to deepen our breath, focus our minds and open our hearts. The use of sound can release and transform emotional and mental holding to create space for a deeper beingness to permeate us. Sound practices are a perfect bridge into meditation and into a deeper inner inquiry and self-exploration.
Practices will range from simple humming practices to beautiful Sanskrit prayers, and will include both contemporary and traditional practices. These practices can be included within any yoga or meditation style or tradition. We will place the practices in a theoretical framework exploring four sound traditions: vedic, tantric, bhakti and nada yoga. This framework is especially useful for yoga/meditation teachers to help place any sound practice in context and to enhance our understanding of the deep purpose behind these practices. We will also explore how these practices can be integrated into yoga and meditation teaching.
We will be exploring sound as practice, not performance, so rusty voices are very welcome. This workshop is suitable for both beginner and experienced students of mantra yoga. The practices are easy to learn and to teach even without any previous musical experience.
“To sing is not enough. We must tap the powers that lie beneath the consciousness of the song. The song leads down to the chant, the chant leads down to the tone, the tone leads down to the breath and the breath leads to the energy beneath the sound – the roar of silence.” Don Campbell
All participants will receive a Sacred Sound Training Manual. This workshop earns 6 CPD points for Yoga Australia members.
Cost $155 Includes intensive training designed for yoga/meditation teachers, Sacred Sound Training Manual and afternoon tea.
The Sacred Sound Immersion for yoga teachers is now offered over 2 days, Part 1 and Part 2. You are welcome to do one day or both. Part 1 explore simpler practices, Part 2 more challenging practices. If you are completely new to working with mantra, it is reccommended to do Part 1 first. If you have some familiarity with mantra you can begin with Part 1 or Part 2. If you have done a Sacred Sound Immersion or Course with me in the past, the practices we explored then are now included in Part 1, so you could do Part 2 to explore new practices.
