Event description
A special movie screening to commemorate May Gibbs' Little Obelia turning 100.

About this Event

In 1881, May Gibbs immigrated to South Australia as a four-year-old child. Her family lived at Norwood for a brief time before moving to Western Australia. She went on to become one of Australia’s most beloved children’s authors and illustrators, creating the iconic Snugglepot and Cuddlepie characters in 1916 and Little Obelia in 1921.

To commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Little Obelia, join us for a screening of the ballet version of The Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, performed by the Dancers Company of the Australian Ballet School, with guest artists from the Australian Ballet, recorded by Film Australia in 1992. Includes a brief overview of the life of May Gibbs.

Running time 45 minutes. Rated G (General).
