Rutherglen & Corowa Unlocked - Country Womens Association Hall Corowa
Event Information
Description
Rug up and enjoy warm hospitality, amazing stories and inspiring architecture.
Explore and celebrate the rich history and beautiful buildings in the region during Rutherglen & Corowa Unlocked.
The Country Women’s Association in Corowa is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year and they are opening their doors to all during Rutherglen & Corowa Unlocked.
In November 1928, the Corowa & District CWA held a meeting to discuss the building of CWA rooms in Corowa. The ladies left this meeting with plans to raise the funds to have their building built. With a force of 200 plus local women, enough funds were raised and the building was finished and opened within 12 months - quite a feat in 1928.
Drop in throughout the weekend to see what the Country Women’s Association does for local communities, explore the history of the Corowa branch and enjoy a Devonshire Tea for $5.00 with world famous CWA scones and fresh cream and jam.
