A 4-part series of Traditional Hatha Yoga Classes with Rusty Davis

The Complete Experience for Awakening

Together we will explore the complete immersion of “Traditional Yoga” from 5000 years ago. Asana, Bandhas, Pranayama, Meditations, Kumbhakas, Vinyasa Krama, Stillness, Kundalini, Prana, Apana, All 5 Vayus practices and Kriyas will all be observed. Through repetition we will get to learn, grow and deepen our practice of yoga together. There are three methods of Tantra (Non-sexual) Hatha Yoga that we will explore to remove blockages within the body and bring to observation our potential for healing energy that we are at every moment. Sun, Moon and Fire practices will be the tools that enliven our awareness to life and empower us to thrive on and off the mat. This is a ALL Levels Workshop.

Session # 1 Wednesday November 29th 9:30-10:45am - "SUN practice"

Just like the sun gives life the prana to manifest in nature, the Inhale gives us the masculine powers and energy to thrive. It is said that the Inhale or Prana energy ends at the heart and just below at the Solar Plexus and this workshop will be inspired by asana that opens these areas like Heart Openers, Standing Poses and Lateral Stretches. Let’s explore ways that pranayama can be used to become brighter and more powerful. We will observe what Prana Vayu is and how this sacred “wind” can help us manifest and clear blockages that keep us suffering, stuck and low on energy, maybe even Depressed. Come and get your fill of healing energy as we use meditation on the solar plexus and the inhale as our focus. Open that heart and open to a life that is filled with love for the self and others. Yoga is medicine as it is!


Session # 2 Wednesday December 6th 9:30-10:45am - "MOON Practice"

The Moon is the Feminine aspect to nature. She is grounded, stillness is rooted deep and the nurturing aspect of the mother of the breath, the Exhale, is utilized in the letting go process. What do we need to let go of is things that makes the mind not sharp and emotions that send us into craziness and over-thinking states. Using asanas such as Forward Folds, Standing Poses, Twists and Seated Poses we will focus on the Apana Vayu and Exhale ourselves to a new sense of calmness. Lengthening the spine for strength and flow of energy during meditation is a key foundation. Vinyasa Krama focusing on the lengthening of the exhale will be our tool as well as Kumbhakas and Bandha play. We explore the Yin side; where we tend to not look and store unwanted experiences or traumas. We will use pranayama and relaxation techniques and finally push those “energy-in-motions” or “emotions” out for good.

Session #3 Wednesday December 13th 9:30-10:45am - "FIRE Practice"

Our centre is where most of our energy is held and here lies the emotional body. The organs are here and each organ holds a specific emotion associated within its layers. This practice will take all the information we practiced through the Sun and Moon and bring forth a heat or fire to finally let go of impurities that weigh us down. Asanas focusing on the core through extensions and inversions of headstand and shoulderstand will be practiced. Kriyas that clear energy at the centre and help burn stuck energy are utilized. Bandha work, Kumbhakas on both the inhale and exhale, pranayama for clearing the nervous system and focus on Samana Vayu will be used. This is the practice to finally step into the power we all have and say YES to Life!!!

Session # 4 Wednesday December 20th 9:30-10:45am - "The Complete Practice"

We weave it all together in a balanced Hatha Yoga practice.

BYO mat if possible, we only have a few spares.

Getting Here

Guildford Train Station is a 1km walk from the studio through Stirling Square. Guildford becomes a vibrant village atmosphere on the weekend so if you choose to drive allow an extra 5 minutes to find a parking bay.

Parking

Free parking is available in Padbury Stores carpark (adjacent to Panache Living) or on Terrace Rd and Swan St (please check signs as some bays have a 2hr limit).

Directions to the Studio

All good journeys start by finding a hidden treasure (think Narnia); our beautiful boutique circa 1868 studio is no exception. Follow these steps and you will be slowing down with us soon…

  1. Walk through the wrought-iron gate adjacent to Panache Living (112 Terrace Rd, Guildford) and continue to the rear of the Padbury Store’s Carpark.
  2. Turn left through the big (really big) wooden barn doors.
  3. Continue walking straight through the alleyway past the Padbury’s Restaurant kitchen.
  4. Turn left up the staircase at the Padbury’s toilets.
  5. Unfurl your yoga mat and drop into your happy place.
