Rust, Layer and Embellish Textiles and Paper with Grace Cross

2-day workshop 9:30am to 3:30pm daily
Rust creates a textured focus and we will explore the many possibilities of layered surfaces through the techniques of rust printing, rust dyeing, rust and eco bundling, painting, tearing, layering, collaging, embellishing, and stitching.
At the end of the two days, you will have a collection of samples in paper, canvas and fabric using a variety of rusting print and dye techniques and layering techniques that can be applied to your own unique art journey and artworks.
We will supply the use of wax, gesso, rust materials & tools, mordants, chemicals for rusting, and workshop notes.
A materials list will be provided on enrolment of various items for students to bring to use in the rusting process.
Watercolour paper, khadi papers of various sizes, cotton scrim and silk will be available for purchase on the day. These are the surfaces the tutor works on in the rusting process and she will provide examples of their results.
Morning tea will be provided. Bring your own lunch (Coffee, tea, refrigerator and microwave available).
Minimum of 4 students, the class will be cancelled 48 hours prior if the minimum is not met.
