Event description

Description

On Thursday 23 November 2017 Transport for NSW released the Rural and Regional On Demand Transport Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEOI).

We want to identify and implement new, creative and better ways to ensure people can utilise public transport to travel to their desired destination quickly, safely, easily and efficiently at a time that suits them and improve public transport for customers in various settings in Rural and Regional NSW.

To achieve this, we are seeking innovative ideas from the market to develop and run a number of pilots aimed at identifying different solutions to achieve our goals. The pilots will be varied to ensure we test a number of great ideas for improving public transport.

A key outcome of the RFEOI is to deliver greater flexibility and mobility in the transport offering, focussing on the needs of Rural and Regional communities. Learnings from the pilots will help inform TfNSW’s thinking for future service contracts and create potential opportunities for new models and entrants in the transport network of the future.

The RFEOI process is being conducted in a markedly different way and is designed to allow creative ideas which can be further developed through interactive sessions to identify those with the most potential to be developed into a pilot project.

For avoidance of doubt, the scope of the pilots is not restricted to bus services and may include any form of transport which provides potential to improve customer services.

Industry briefing (10.30am for an 11am start - 12.30pm)

This industry briefing will provide an opportunity for respondents to learn more about the process and to ask any questions.

Collaboration Opportunity

TfNSW will work with participants who can contribute innovative systems and ideas in their own right or in partnership with others. For example, TfNSW may assist by linking a participant proposing piloting an application that supports and encourages on demand transport with others who may be able to help provide an end-to-end solution. This will be done through industry collaboration events to assist with opening communication channels between parties. These events will be conducted immediately after the industry briefings, (i.e on the same day and in the same venue). The venue will be open for use until 3pm.

Attendance at this event is entirely voluntary and not a mandatory requirement of the RFEOI process. Attendance at this event does not form part of the RFEOI assessment process.

TfNSW's role in this event is purely one of facilitator.
