About this event

Please note: this event is run by the Small Business Development Corporation for small business owners in Western Australia only.

Whether you’re a sole trader or trying to manage a team of people, running a successful business remotely (aka 'from the comfort of your own home') is possible - if you know how.

In this workshop you'll discover that by having the right tools, systems, routines and knowledge in place you can successfully start, grow and run your business remotely.

This topic covers

  • Learning the one question you need to ask yourself everyday to keep motivated;
  • Planning your day for productivity;
  • Understanding the essential tools you’ll need;
  • Discovering free and affordable apps to save you time and money;
  • Building a team of dedicated, affordable remote workers to help grow your business;
  • Protecting your computers and data, and staying safe from cyber attacks;
  • Using simple communication tools and tips to boost your team's productivity;
  • Using online video on a shoestring budget.

When you complete this session, you'll also receive a 12 month subscription to a video tutorial suite that provides practical advice on a range of digital tools.

This topic is for people who:

  • Are planning to start and run a business from home/remotely; or
  • Are running an existing business and want to run their business from home.

The facilitator for this topic, That Web Company, helps small business owners cut through all the confusing digital marketing jargon with a simple, step-by-step approach to creating successful digital marketing campaigns that provide a return on investment.

This session is presented by the SBDC, the only agency in the Western Australian Government dedicated to helping small business. In fact, we've been providing practical support to small business owners for more than 30 years.

Important booking information

You are limited to two tickets per booking (you can of course make more than one booking).

We will be emailing you with important information on how to find workshop locations and what you need to bring, if it is a face-to-face event. If you are attending an online workshop you will receive instructions and a link on how to join and important information to ensure your device is suitable. Therefore, if you are booking for more than one person, please ensure you provide each person's email address.

To book for larger groups, please contact us on 133 140.

You can cancel your booking up to 24 hours before the workshop starts. Even for free sessions we would appreciate you cancelling if you cannot attend so another small business owner can take your place. For paid sessions, no refunds will be issued within 24 hours of the scheduled start time.

Additional information for online workshop sessions

Please check your computer's suitability for online workshops, including its sound quality, browser, internet bandwidth and speed and video plugins (if required) before the start of the online workshop session. Camera and microphone capabilities are recommended to interact with online workshops.

Our online workshops are run as live, interactive sessions, similar to the format of our face-to-face sessions. For this reason, there is a limited number of tickets per session so our presenters can adequately interact with, and respond to, attendees. Recordings of these live sessions are not available if you do not attend the live event time.

Additional information for face-to-face workshop sessions

No, you don't need to bring your printed ticket.

We value inclusion for clients requiring disability access and our workshops are delivered in a variety of buildings and locations. If you would like further information about accessing a particular workshop please use the contact button at the end of this page to send us your query.
