With the current COVID-19 pandemic, RSL Active is providing a range weekly online activities.

About this Event

RSL Active Online Veterans Yoga sessions are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5.45pm – 7.15pm.

These slow-paced classes are suitable for all levels, including the absolute beginner. The sessions are an opportunity to pause and unwind and will include gentle movement, stretching and guided meditations.

Each class starts at 6.00pm but please feel free to jump online anytime from 5.45pm to chat with the teacher about any injuries or if you have any questions. The session will end at 7.15pm and will also incorporate time for questions at the end of class.

What you will need to participate

  • A comfy place to practice at home with yoga mat or blanket and some cushions or pillows
  • Comfortable clothing
  • 'Zoom' access. Zoom can be downloaded for free on any device or can be accessed through your web browser (Google, Microsoft Edge, etc) and sign up is straight forward.

How the session will work

  • Registered participants will be emailed the Zoom link on the day of the session.
  • From 5.45pm registered participants click on the Zoom link to access the session.
  • The session will be a live session, with teacher and participants all online at the same time.
  • The session will end at 7.15pm and will incorporate question time at the end.
  • Please note, there will be a new Zoom link provided for each session each week.

To participate

  • Registration is essential.
  • The session is open to all Victorian Veterans and is free to participate.
  • In order to register you must be a Veteran, however families in the same household wishing to participate can do so from the same device. You don't need to provide the number and names of any additional family members participating.
  • Please register by clicking the 'Select a Date' button above, choose which date you would like to register for, select 'tickets' and complete your details.
  • You will receive a confirmation email confirming your registration.
  • A separate email with the Zoom link to access the session will be sent to you on the day of the session. Please check your spam folder, others folder or contact RSL Active you haven't received the Zoom login details by 1pm on the day of the session.
  • Please note, there will be a new Zoom link provided for each session each week.

  • Registration for the following week’s class will open each Thursday. The registration link will be posted on the RSL Victoria Facebook page and will also be sent via RSL Active email.

Your teachers

Tuesday Class - Jess Robertson

For Jess, yoga is a chance to reconnect and re-align the body, mind & breath, either through stillness, movement or meditation. Jess believes in listening to our own intuition and using this as a guide each and every day with kindness & balance. She believes that there is this inner voice in all of us, sometimes it just can’t be heard above the noise of our everyday lives.

The intention behind her classes is for students to slow down and reconnect to that intuition while getting all the benefits yoga has on the body, in particular the spine and nervous system.

Jess is a certified 200 Hour Yoga Teacher and has completed additional meditation training with 1Giant Mind and Yin Yoga training. She has been inspired through various workshops & I is forever learning, growing, changing. There is always so much to learn.

Jess' favourite quote is “you are the sky, everything else is just the weather” reminding me that nothing is permanent and it is a constant practise to stay in the present moment.

Thursday class - Mia Shaw

Mia is a Melbourne based yoga and meditation teacher who has been practicing various styles of yoga for over 10 years. Mia creates a welcoming and uplifting environment and she teaches with sincerity and warmth. Her classes centre around an invitational approach giving students options so they learn to listen to their bodies and feel supported to adapt the practice to suit their individual needs.

With a love of many forms of movement, meditation and mindfulness, Mia’s goal is to share these empowering practices with students, allowing for self exploration, connection, self growth and self love.
