Event description
Give your child a headstart in learning advanced robotics and coding in our fun and deeply engaging Robotics Term Program!

About this Event

Learn how to code sensors, motors, and other components to solve real-world problems in this robotics term program for kids in Australia!

Coding and robotics are modern-age tools that the next generation will use in future jobs. This robotics program is designed for students ages 8 to 16 and is a fun and engaging way to learn coding and robotics. Through our program, kids will learn to use technology in a meaningful way with lots of cross-curriculum content covering Maths and Science concepts.

The program will be using LEGO Mindstorms EV3, the latest and most advanced LEGO robotics kit. The EV3 kit contains 2 large motors, 1 medium motor, touch sensor, colour sensor, ultrasonic sensor, infra-red sensor, and a gyroscopic sensor.

Program StructureThe program is divided into three stages—Introduction, Intermediate and Advanced. Each week, students will work on fun challenges using the kit and the related software components. Students will also be working on projects to apply the knowledge and skills they gained throughout the course.

Introduction: This course provides a basic understanding of the EV3 kit and software. Students will also learn about motors, sensors, cables, and the programmable EV3 kit.

Intermediate: A continuation of the introduction course, students are introduced to new blocks in the program and medium motor. They will work on more complex challenges which involves multiple sensors.

Advanced: A continuation of the intermediate course, students are introduced to the gyroscopic sensor and advanced software blocks to program their robot.

Students must finish the introduction program before proceeding to the intermediate program. Likewise, they will be assessed at the end of the intermediate program to determine if they will continue to the advanced program.

Important Note: Students may bring food and drink during the class. However, we have a nut-free policy and food should be consumed in the break-out area as directed by facilitators.
