Scienceworks and The Australian Centre for Robotic Vision are partnering to provide a rich professional learning experience for Victorian primary and secondary teachers.
The focus is on robotics, coding and computational thinking as well as discovering cutting edge research in robotic vision led by the ARC Centre of Excellence - Australian Centre for Robotic Vision.
The workshop will use LEGO EV3 Mindstorms robots to address:
- logic and computational thinking, requiring participants to write a clear set of instructions for their robot using the Lego graphical programming language.
- learning about the inputs of a Lego Mindstorms robot control what it senses about the world around it, while the outputs control its movement or response.
- problem solving, creativity and innovation skills to achieve a motivating end-goal.
Links to the Victorian curriculum and how to recognise computational thinking skills in the classroom will be explored.
This opportunity is open to teachers with a current VIT registration. Certificates for professional learning will be provided.
Lunch is available for purchase at the on-site café or BYO.
