Event Details

During the month of April you'll get a chance to visit four local farms culminating in a delectible luncheon prepared using all of the produce you have seen during the tour by Chef Steve Santucci at the Moonacres Kitchen.

We hope by this tour to give you an idea of what a "local food system" looks like.  The tour starts off at the Robertson Bowlo where the long running Crop-Swap is held.  Locals have gathered together every Saturday morning for the past 3 years to swap their home grown produce.  Sustainability isn't about personal self sufficiency, it has to happen in community.  Our motto at crop-swap is "meet your neighbours.....needs"  Growing your own food is actually about growing relationships and community.  Tickets are free for this, just rock up to the Bowlo at 9:30am.

Just a short walk from the bowlo is the Moonacres Kitchen where a bus will awaits to take you on your farm tour (with the exception of the Mauger's farm tour where parking is provided)  All farms are local so the distance is very short.  Bus leaves Moonacres Kitchen at 10:40am

After the talk the bus will take you back to the Moonacres Kitchen so you can taste the produce that has come from the farm you've just visited as well as other local produce. Lunch is at 12:30pm

There is ample parking at the railway station directly behind Moonacres kitchen and we suggest you find a good park there and use that as a base for your day in Robbo.

Kids welcome!  Just let us know via email to plim@people.net.au

Farm Tour:  Kids under 12 are half price.  Kids under 6 are free

Lunch:  Kids meals will be available to purchase on the day but let us know in advance

In the event that the event is fully booked, young children without a ticket will be seated on the carer's lap during the bus ride to the farm and at the lunch table.

Thanks!

Moonacres Kitchen

Chef Steve Santucci will have a chat to you about a chef’s role in the local food system and the relationships he has with his local farmers.  Watch this space for special lunch time guest speakers.

All Participants of the Robertson Autumn Farm Tours are Members of the of the Southern Highlands Food and Wine Clusters. We highly recommend this site as a great starting point for planning your next visit to the highlands as it breaks the region up into smaller clusters.....but Robertson is the best so you might not really want to bother visiting the others.
