About this event

This Roads2Civil program is proudly hosted by Western Technical College in partnership with the CITB, Civil Train, Civil Apprenticeships and Careers Ltd, City of PAE and Renewal SA’s Works Program.

To be considered for this program interested students must first attend the Information Session date TBC at Civil Train, 1 South Road Thebarton. Registrations for the Information Session close on Monday 2nd August 20201

The information session commences at 5:30pm finishing at approximately 7:30pm. Students are strongly encouraged to bring along a parent or guardian, however please note that due to capacity limitations this is restricted to one guest per student.

Light refreshments will be provided.

We are looking for Current Year 11 or 12 students interested in a civil construction pathway. To be eligible for selection students must be able to commit to training dates and have a learner’s permit or provisional driver’s licence. Preference will also be given to doorways2construction students.

Through the Roads2Civil program you can achieve up to 20 Stage two SACE Credits. Students will receive a statement of attainment for the following nationally accredited units of competency

• CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (White Card)

• RIIBEF201D Plan and organise work

• RIICCM205E Carry out manual excavation

• RIICCM207D Spread and compact materials manually

• RIISAM203D Use hand and power tools

• RIIWHS201D Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures.

These units form part of the Certificate III in Civil Construction (RII30919) qualification.

Program participants will complete three weeks of training between 20 September and 15 October 2021 working on a live project within the City of PAE and at the Civil Train Live Works Site, Burton. Students will be provided with all personal protective equipment (PPE) required to participate safely.

All students who successfully complete the Roads2Civil program will be considered for a civil apprenticeship.

Please note that there is a student contribution fee for this program of $350 per student.
