Riva Rising: A Journey in Song
Eunice Rodgers is a South Australian of Ngarrindjeri and Ngukkur heritage. In her show, Riva Rising, she co-opts songs from a range of diverse genres and traditions, and uses them to deliver a stark, uncompromising telling of her personal story.
A quartet of accomplished musicians provides a sparse, economical backing that allows the beauty of Eunice’s rich contralto voice to shine through.
The end result is much more than a collection of timeless jazz standards, gospel, blues, country music and Eunice’s own compositions. It is a privileged insight into the life of a unique local woman.
