It's important now more than ever to come together in community.
What we are seeing take place is the final expression of colonialism. The rivers are bleeding dry. Water is being sold privately and the country continues to burn as the Government gives the go ahead to Norwegian-based oil and gas company Statoil to start drilling for oil in the Great Australian bight - one of the last truly untouched wonders of the world, with more than 85% of it’s marine species found nowhere else on the planet. The country burns as the government gives its support to Adani, an Indian Multinational conglomerate, who plan to build a mega coal mine in Central QLD (the largest in the Southern Hemisphere) which would destroy the ancestral lands and waters of the Wangan and Jagalingou people and add 4.6 billion tonnes of carbon pollution to our atmosphere. And there is so much more.
This is the continuation of the desecration and denial of indigenous land rights, management and knowledge. What we are experiencing is colonisation in all of its forms.
INDIGENOUS SOVEREIGNTY IS CLIMATE ACTION!
This is a safe, inclusive and accessible event.
We would like to acknowledge that this event is being held on the traditional lands of the Noongar people. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging.
