This presentation is designed to educate parents and carers about what they can do to help their adolescent girls navigate the often challenging teenage years with understanding and compassion. You will learn about:

* Teenage brain development and what constitues normal behaviour in teenagers

* Developing realistic expectations of what our teenage girls can and can't do

* How to communicate effectively with teenagers

* Common emotional issues in teenage girls (such as anxiety, depression, eatng disorders and self-harm) - how to recognise the signs and what to do

* How to manage difficult topics such as sex, the internet, pornography and social media.

This talk will be presented by Chantelle Martyn (BMedSc; BPsych(hons); MPsychol (Clin); M.A.P.S). Chantelle is a psychologist at the Centre for Clinical Therapy, where she helps people with a wide range of emotional problems. Chantelle has a special interest in treating children, adolescents and young adults, and frequently encounters young people and their families struggling to manage the transition from childhood to adulthood. She will draw on her extensive clinical experience in this informative presentation.
