Go behind the scenes of the song writing process as KLP and other top Australian artists take you into their creative space. During the Master Class, we will be opening up demos, old recording sessions and lyrics and giving you an insight into song creation from start to finish.

About KLP: Real name Kristy Lee Peters, KLP is a multi-talented gem of the Aussie music scene, hosting triple j’s House Party every Saturday in between writing and recording her own music, co-writing for other musicians, and collaborating with locals and internationals.

What is Ricochet? Ricochet will aim to unite people from the creative industries with a view to create a new kind of community that seeks to unite through workshops, group activities and growing mentorships. Ricochet SONGS is a song writing camp supporting emerging and established Australian producer, writers and artists who will descend on Newcastle NSW for a week of song writing intensives.

Meet our guest artists

Odette

Captivating in presence, Odette’s songs are deeply personal and see her flutter from spoken word into warm, soulful vocals, with arrangements circling soul, jazz and pop. Born in England and raised in the inner western suburbs of Sydney, Odette grew up with an eclectic musical palette. Her South African mother introduced her to African music, soul, funk and rhythm; while her English father, hailing from a long line of jazz pianists, introduced her to new wave, jazz and passed on his musical talents. Odette has played piano since she was a child and her highly emotive use of the instrument lives at the centre of her songs, a grounding motif of her heritage.

Maribelle

From a garage in Melbourne to the jungles of Ubud, 23-year-old Maribelle Añes is a gun-for-hire songwriter that’s ready to blow up as a solo artist in her own right.Maribelle continues to rack up the songwriting and production credits behind the scenes. She signed a deal with Universal Music Publishing Group in late 2017, and has written tracks for Young Franco (‘Miss You’), Kilter (‘I Hear You’), and The Voice South Africa finalist Armand Joubert (‘Should I’) and most recently produced the winning song for triple j unearthed High 2019.
