Description

The May 2018 “Revisiting Rough Sleeping” edition of Parity will be launched by Martin Foley MLA for Albert Park, Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing, Mental Health, Equality and Creative Industries.

We’re delighted to announce that the Victorian Minister for Housing, the Hon. Martin Foley MP will be launching this important edition.


The Parity launch and Sector Forum has been sponsored by the City of Port Phillip


Following the Parity launch there will be a half day sector forum.

First Session: Rough Sleeping: A National Perspective

Key Note Speakers:

  • Sherri Bruinhout, Assistant Director, Homelessness and Accommodation Support, Victorian Department of Health and Human Services: The Rough Sleeping Action Plan

  • Katherine McKernan, CEO Homelessness NSW, the Response to Rough Sleeping in New South Wales

  • Associate Professor Ian Goodwin-Smith, Director, Australian Centre for Community Services Research, Flinders University, the Response to Rough Sleeping in South Australia

Second Session: Moderated Panel discussion, Responding to Rough Sleeping in Melbourne

Panel Members:

Representatives from City of Melbourne, City of Port Phillip and the City of Yarra, Heather Holst, Launch Housing, Leonie Kenny CHP Rough Sleeping Project Manager, Dr Cameron Duff, Vice Chancellor's Senior Research Fellow, RMIT University

Moderated discussion to be followed by a response from our interstate presenters.

Third Session: Facilitated Workshops: Working to End Rough Sleeping

1. The Role and Work of Assertive Outreach

2. The Role of Local Government in responding to rough sleeping

3. Client and Consumer participation and lived experience in the response to rough sleeping

4. The Victorian Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Action Plan
