Event description

Description

Register for this one off opportunity to experience the industry expertise of Richard Bruggeman in the Murraylands and Riverland region.

Implementing restrictive practices can be an emotionally and physically difficult task that many members of the community go through.

Professor Richard Bruggemann will be presenting a ‘Restrictive Practice Training’ workshop at the:

Berri Hotel – Riverview Room

30.10.2018

1pm – 2:30pm

The training aims to give participants the correct information on the rights of Australian citizens and residents including people with disabilities.

The content of the training includes:

  • The rights of people with disabilities

  • How restrictive practices impact on rights

  • What restrictive practices are

  • How restrictive practices can be used legally

  • How services can reduce/eliminate the use of restrictive practices

  • Positive Behaviour Support and how it can reduce the need of restrictive practices

  • Restrictive practices in the NDIS environment

Richard will facilitate discussion around each of these topics with a power point presentation that is made available to participants. There will also be opportunities for questions and further explanation.

The workshop will also examine how restrictive practices are monitored and managed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission, as well as the requirement organisations have to record and report their use of restrictive practice.
