This presentation, by Dr Jill Downing, will report on the findings of a recent research project undertaken at the University of Tasmania where feedback from over 1,000 online students was analysed through Kahu’s (2013) Framework of Engagement. From this presentation, attendees will gain an informed insight into:

• What engagement ‘looks like’ in the online environment and what matters most to students;
• Institutional implications for supporting student online engagement; and
• The importance of effective design and teacher engagement for online student engagement.
