Event description

Description

Early Childhood Management Services (ECMS) and Hobsons Bay City Council invite all parents and carers to join us for an important free information session about Resilience: Parenting Through Change.

What will the session cover?

Resilience-building comes with exposures to new challenges and vulnerabilities. Starting early learning and care and kindergarten is a great opportunity for children (and parents) to begin exploring how the outside world, new relationships and daily contacts can help build confidence, self-awareness and resilience.

This session will prompt parents to think about:

  • How they can support their children in this very important stage in their lives
  • What they can do to prepare children
  • How to respond to some of the new experiences they will have with their children as they begin to explore the world outside their family.

After the session, please join us for a tour of the new Altona Early Years Hub facility opening in Term 1, 2019.

Who can attend?

All parents and carers from the community are invited to attend this free session. To ensure that you can get the most out of this session, we recommend that you do not bring your children to this event.

Who are the speakers?

These sessions are run as a collaboration between Early Childhood Management Services (ECMS) and Hobsons Bay City Council.

Presenters will include:

  • Nicole Carver - Coordinator Community Child Health, Hobsons Bay City Council
  • Janet Williams-Smith - Director, Research and Development, Early Childhood Management Services
  • Shannan Mudie - Deputy Director, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Management Services

Do I need to register?

Yes! Although it is a free event, please ensure that you register for a ticket so that we know how many people to expect.

Both sessions are the same, so please register for ONE only. Simply select your preferred date from the drop-down menu, click 'Register' and then select 'Adult Ticket' and choose the number of people attending.

What is the Altona Early Years Hub?
