FAQs

How can I get the discount to go for $22?

To celebrate the launch of this training, complete the EOI form before registering (takes up to 5 mins) and you'll get the discount code to enter to drop the price to only $22 (incl GST) as a research professional to attend. The EOI form just helps us understand the mix of backgrounds and perspectives of people attending. Where else can you get a day's training for that price that will put you on the front foot with working with consumers, so you are ready to answer that question next time a grant application asks it - How have consumers been involved in this project?

Who are the presenters?

This workshop has been co-created by, and will be presented by, Jack Nunn and Janelle Bowden.

Janelle has a PhD from the University of Sydney and 17years experience working in and around clinical trials. Janelle founded Research4Me, a social enterprise, as a vehicle to support the public in their journey to find out about and get involved in clinical trials, as advocates, participants and as partners with researchers and industry to improve clinical trials, and help make sure needed treatments are available more quickly.

Jack Nunn is a researcher in the Public Health Department in the Centre for Health Communication and Participation at La Trobe University. He has worked with Cochrane Australia, the World Health Organisation, the Australian Department of Health, and for the UK National Institute of Health Research. He is currently doing a PhD looking at how the public can be involved in shaping the future of genomics research.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The best option for getting to the event is public transport, with Circular Quay train station being directly across the road from the venue (1-2min walk), and many bus routes stopping at Circular Quay (Stand B).

Circular Quay train station is 18mins on a direct train line from Sydney airport. Interstate visitors will need to purchase an Opal card for travelling on public transport in Sydney. More information is available online about Opal cards for visitors.

You can plan your public transport trip here.

If you prefer to drive, google "parking circular quay" for best options. Note however, parking in Sydney City is extremely expensive, and driving in the city with the current public works for the light rail is challenging.

What can I bring into the event?

We will provide pens and paper.

Morning and afternoon tea and coffee, plus a light lunch will be provided. If you have special food requirements, please notify us in advance.

The room is large, with natural light on level 2 of the library (accessible by lift or stairs). Please feel free to bring with you anything that you require to be comfortable during the day.

Please note that smoking and alcohol are not permitted in the venue.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

For any questions about the event, or feedback on specific food requirements, please feel free to email Admin@Research4.Me or call (02) 9931 6820.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Your registration is transferrable to another person with certain conditions. Please contact us by email or phone to discuss your requirements preferably by Mon 18th Sep.

I am being charged $0.50 to register?

We believe Eventbrite charges this the first time you register for any event on the platform. This is beyond our control. If this causes hardship, we are happy to refund your $0.50 at the training - just ask.
