Research Education Program


Introductory Biostatistics
Understanding and reporting research results including P-values and Confidence Intervals

Need a starter on statistics or a refresher? This seminar covers fundamental statistical conceps for clinical researchers and research students including:

  • Why we use significant testing

  • How to intepret confidence intervals and p-values

  • How to sample size

  • How variability affects results

  • Why bias and confounding factors are important considerations in designing studies

  • When to seek statistical support

Presenter: Doctor Julie Marsh

Julie is an experience statistical consultant who has worked in the Pharceutical industry for many years before returning to academia. She teaches statistics at UWA, and is a Senior Research Fellow at Telethon Kids Institute.
