Abstract

Virtual reality is emerging as a viable rehabilitation tool for people with incomplete spinal cord injury. Interactive virtual activities and games provide a safe environment for daily practice of desired movements. Gamification and setting a ‘just right’ challenge create motivation in this adjunct to traditional rehabilitation therapies. Join Associate Professor Marina Ciccarelli as she discusses the impact of virtual reality on rehabilitation.

Accessing the Curtin HIVE

The HIVE is located in Building 200A inside the John Curtin Gallery, on the main Curtin University campus in Bentley. The Curtin University Bus Station is served by many services and the station is 5-10 minute walk from the HIVE. See the map here: http://maps.curtin.edu.au If you are arriving by car, although hourly visitor parking is available in Blue areas at $3.50/hour (Pi1 Blue is the closest), this area is likely to fill quickly. You can also park in Yellow (e.g. Pi1 Yellow) ($1.55/hour) and Green ($0.78/hour) - however you will need to install the CelloPark App to pay for the Yellow and Green areas.
