Event Details

Bang the Table has teamed up with Cochrane Research Solutions to help you design better surveys and improve your research design approaches with our Research Methods for Online Engagement Masterclass.

This workshop focuses on survey and research design for government decision making and is designed to share tips and tools to effectively design and deliver online surveying as part of a consultation strategy. The workshop is recommended for community engagement professionals and others looking to review or improve their approach to creating online surveys and analysing data.

During the course participants will be invited to reflect on their past consultations and surveying practices, engage with the key principles of quantitative and qualitative research methods, and critique examples of online surveys.

Participants will also work through a six-step checklist to design an online survey and engagement approach and will leave with a toolkit to assess and build individual and organisational consultation capability.

The content draws on the iap2 industry quality standard, public engagement research and industry case studies.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the workshop, participants will have achieved the following learning outcomes:

  • Assess and understand online surveying approaches to inform practice
  • Understand when to use online surveying as part of your consultation
  • Engage with a range of principles underpinning good qualitative and quantitative research approaches
  • Develop an understanding of how research design principles can be applied to create an effective community consultation
  • Analyse and make sense of consultation data to inform decision making using digital tools and analytics
  • Interpreting and reporting the findings – to generate defendable and user-friendly reports to inform decision-making

We highly recommend this master class for engagement and communications professionals, who are looking for new ways to develop online engagement practices within their organisations.
