THIS WORKSHOP IS CANCELLED. FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE EMAIL fauna.rescue.events@gmail.com

Fauna Rescue of South Australia Inc. invites you to join us for our upcoming REPTILE WORKSHOP being held on SUNDAY, 14 October 2018.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
The reptile workshop is designed to give new carers and rescuers a general understanding of lizards and turtles, common reasons for coming into care, treatment plans as well as basic husbandry and housing requirements. The workshop will consist of both theory and practical components with a chance for attendees to handle live reptiles. The workshop will cover -

  • Permits and classifications of reptiles
  • Common reptile species
  • How to safely rescue reptiles
  • Handling of reptiles
  • Physical assessment of reptiles
  • Common injuries and problems
  • Housing and husbandry
  • Diet and Feeding

COST - $2 for members, $25 for non-members (See Membership below)

MEMBERSHIP
If you are not a member and would like to join before the workshop, please go to our website http://www.faunarescue.org.au/membership.htm where you can complete the membership form and pay the appropriate fee to join on line. A single membership is only $35 per annum, and as your entrance fee on Sunday would be $25, for another $10 you can become a member for a year, and only pay $2 on the day for each person over 16 years. (16 years and under free entry, but must register). There are also family memberships available. However, membership forms will also be available on the day, as are credit facilities.

Workshops are open to Fauna Rescue SA members and the general public. Species Workshops offer more intensive training and information about the main native wildlife species we work with. It is necessary to attend a New Member Orientation Workshop as well as the relevant Species Workshop if you intend to become actively involved in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. Come to a New Member Orientation Workshop to learn more about who we are, what we do and the variety of ways in which you can help save SA's wildlife, as well as first-care should you find wildlife needing help.

Workshops are a good opportunity to meet other members.

THE VENUE & PARKING:
The venue has limited seating so please book a place if you are attending.

Located in the RSPCA Training Room, 16 Nelson Street, Stepney. Parking is available adjacent to the side entry door or on Nelson Street. The RSPCA requests that rear parking spaces are left for RSPCA staff, and that workshop attendees enter through the side door and not the front door.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE EVENT?
Bring a $2 coin (member) or $25 donation (non-member) for each attendee (under 16 free, but must register) and a plate of cold food for a shared lunch, a note pad and a pen. Tea and coffee is provided.

Carry baskets, starter packs, rescue kits and Fauna Rescue clothing can be purchased at most workshops. Credit card facilities are available.
