Repressed Records & R.I.P. Society say a fond farewell to the best, and closest band room in Newtown with an eclectic mix of groups new and old, short and tall, wet and dry. Pinkbatts have only played a handful of shows but bring to mind the attack of Venom P. Stinger, Eastlink and Swell Maps.
The Vacant Lot are a punk group that released one 7" EP in 1981 on Doublethink Records, called it a day and resumed creative activity in the new century. Whilst there's the remnants of their 1981 KBD/Murder Punk sound there's a pulsing and subtle inventiveness reminiscent of Wire, Eddy Current Suppression Ring or The Wipers. Half High is the duo of Lucy Phelan (also known as industrial techno powerhouse Lucy Cliche) and Matthew Hopkins (also know as visual art superstar Matthew P. Hopkins), both formerly of Naked On The Vague. As Half High they've made music that blurs the line between ambient and industrial, soothing and disorientating.
Their last live outing at Marrickille Bowling Club threw the idea of them making atmospheric music out the window. It was full blown sonic freedom! Sydney music staples Bed Wettin' Bad Boys will be playing music from their forthcoming second LP titled Rot. How do the songs from Rot differ from the songs from their first album Ready For Boredom? Some have more notes, but others have less. It's the same Do-It-Yourself informed approach to hook driven Rock Music™ but drawing from a larger gene pool of guitar diddlies and drum thwacks.
