Event description
Your voice is more than what is spoken and written; your voice is grounded in your character and identity in Jesus...

About this Event

Engage Masterclasses provide integrated theological and professional development opportunities for women in Christian community. For more information on our Engage program go to: deaconessministries.org.au/engage

When preparing to speak or write, it is easy to focus upon the mechanics: drafting and redrafting, ensuring that what we say or write sings. Your voice though is more than what is spoken and written; your voice is grounded in your character and identity in Jesus, being shaped by your emotions and beliefs, and also by your fears. Integrating both theological and personal reflection, in this masterclass we will explore how our capacity to believe, feel, desire, and choose, impact who we are and our voice. Be equipped with the skills to seek the renewal of your beliefs, emotions, desires, and decisions in the truth of God’s character and his Word, so that your voice when heard is shaped by integrity and wholeness in Christ.

Speaker

Rev’d Dr Katy Smith is the Principal of Mary Andrews College (MAC) (commencing March 2020) and is writing the Exodus commentary for the Zondervan Exegetical Commentary of the Old Testament series. Prior to serving with MAC, Katy was the Regional Director for CMS SA-NT and before that she was the Old Testament Lecturer and Director of Postgraduate Studies at Bible College of South Australia. Katy completed her doctorate in 2018 through Trinity College Bristol (University of Bristol) focusing on the rhetorical function of Leviticus in the context of the Pentateuch.
