RENAE SUTTIE, one of QLD's jazz treasures, is coming to Whispers Cocktail Bar for a night of Vocal Jazz, Swing, Bossa Nova & New School Jazz

Whispers Cocktail Bar & Lounge is excited to announce that one of Queensland's jazz treasures, RENAE SUTTIE, is performing live at Whispers and supported by some of our finest local jazz talent.

In support of the Entertainment industry, 100% of ticket sales goes to the performing artists. For any special seating requests, please contact the venue.

ABOUT THE NIGHT

Step back in time as Renae and her incredible support band take you back to an era of jazz when it was sung from the heart, powered by a love of the music that brings joy to so many.

Rarely do such accomplished musicians come together to perform with a vocalist so very admired and respected internationally. This night, is one of those rare occasions, providing the audience with a night that will surely be remembered as a highlight of 2020.

ABOUT RENAE AND THE BAND

Renae Suttie

Following her music studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and University of Queensland, Renae has been performing professionally for the past 28 years. She has worked the international 5-star hotel circuit extensively and also performed with high profile Australian artists such as Daryl Braithwaite, Rhonda Burchmore, Wendy Matthews and The Eurogliders. As a session singer, Renae's voice can be heard on many Australian television and radio advertisements, including Channel 7’s “Love You Queensland”.

Renae performs regularly at music festivals such as Caloundra Music Festival; Day On The Bay; Broadbeach Blends Of Jazz Festival and the Noosa International Food and Wine Festival. Renae received the “Jazz Vocalist Award” at the 2007 ABC Valley Jazz Festival and has released an album of jazz originals called “Starlight”.

Marnix van Bruggen started playing piano in his country of birth, The Netherlands. After Jazz piano studies at The Hague Conservatorium, he led weekly sessions in renowned jazz clubs in The Hague such as Cafe Van Merlen, The Hague Beer Cellar Jazz Club and Jazz Bar Murphy’s Law.

Marnix has performed extensively throughout Holland, Belgium and Germany with DeJaVu | Acoustic Jazz Lounge Group who released their debut album in 2014. He has played at numerous jazz festivals in Holland, including the prestigious North Sea Jazz Festival. With Dutch jazz singer Judith Nijland, he recently played jazz concerts on main Australian stages such as Sydney-Foundry 616, Melbourne–Paris Cat Jazz Club, Brisbane Jazz Club, DooBob Jazz club Brisbane, and Perth–Ellington jazz club.

OJ Newcomb works as a bass educator on acoustic/electric bass and trumpet and is a freelance bassist, nationally and internationally, specializing in all styles of music. Owen graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 1999 with a Bachelor of Music majoring in classical double bass.

Paul Hudson started playing drums at 8 years of age and in graduated 1986 from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music with a Diploma of Music – Percussion Major. Following graduation came a variety of performances, backing artists such as: Donny Rae Evins, Venetta Fields, Jackie Love, James Morrison. He has worked together with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra as well as a variety of local, interstate and international jazz artists including George Cables, Bernie McGann, Sandy Evans, Don Borrows, Mike Nock, Missy Higgins, Jamie Cullum. Paul teaches drums at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and Queensland University of Technology.

Your seating has been arranged to comply with Social Distancing requirements. Note that all ticket sales are sold in "seating blocks" per table to ensure patrons maintain their "social bubble groups", to prevent intermingling and so that Social Distancing protocols are in place.
