Event description
Are you from a culturally and linguistically diverse background? Do you have experience with accessing the NDIS? We want to hear from you.

About this Event

Help us improve the NDIS journey for our communities - through improving reimagine.today

Mental Health Victoria is inviting people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds, living with a mental health condition, and their supporters, carers, advocates, service providers – both paid and unpaid family/friends – to take part in a series of 3 co-design workshops to improve existing materials and create NEW supporting resources. Participants can choose to attend alone or with a supporter.

This is the third and final session in the series, which aims to discuss finalised resources which aim to help people of the CALD community access mental health services and understand the NDIS.

Some proposed resources we will talk about in the workshops:

- A podcast or video series focused on people's experiences of the NDIS, and the barriers people from CALD backgrounds with mental health conditions face in accessing the NDIS.

- E-learning module for consumers focused on self-advocacy and storytelling

- Various other resources co-designed by the groups

What is reimagine.today?

With funding provided by the NDIA, Mental Health Victoria is participating in a national project to share and enhance reimagine.today. reimagine.today is a FREE online resource that guides people living with a mental health condition through the step-by-step process of accessing the NDIS.

The NSW Mental Health Coordinating Council (MHCC) have employed Peer Leaders in NSW/ACT, NT, QLD, SA, VIC and TAS to coordinate state-based Peer-led Networks and run a co-design process to develop additional resources for reimagine.today.

The resources and website improvements will further support people in accessing the NDIS. In particular, new resources and updates will improve accessibility for people from 4 priority diversity groups:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples,
  • People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD)
  • People living in rural and remote areas and
  • LGBTIQA+ people

Who can attend?

Mental Health Victoria are conducting the co-design workshops with culturally and linguistically diverse people with lived experience, their family, carers, supporters, advocates and service providers to improve existing materials and create NEW supporting resources.

Co-design provides an opportunity for people to contribute in a respectful, safe and supported environment.

Places are limited and preference is given to those who attended the first and second sessions. To ensure there a mix of participants, final confirmations regarding your registration to participate in the workshop will be provided to you a week prior to the workshop.

Morning tea and lunch provided.

**Eligible consumers and carer participants will be offered remuneration for their time.
