Join David Lee in exploring how Australia’s second minerals rush over the last half century has transformed Western Australia and the nation. This talk is part of the State Library’s Mining and Energy WA project which aims to collect, preserve and share the stories of the mining and energy sector in Western Australia. Free event, but please RSVP to reserve your seat.

David Lee is a historian of 20th Century Australian history and foreign policy. Since 2012 he has researched the modern history of mining in Australia. His latest book The Second Rush: Mining and the Transformation of Australia (2016) traces the progress of Australia’s second minerals rush over half a century, examining the industry’s relationship with governments, workers and industrial relations and the impact of mining on the environment and on Australia’s first peoples.
