Registration of Interest - Date and Time to be confirmed

The State Government has committed to several initiatives that aim to increase the supply of social and affordable housing in Victoria. This includes changes to the Planning and Environment Act to support enhanced facilitation of affordable housing outcomes through local planning schemes and voluntary negotiations.

The ‘Affordable Housing Delivery and Financing Masterclass has been developed by the Affordable Housing Industry Advisory Group to support Local Government statutory and strategic planners to increase their understanding of the affordable housing policy, financing, funding and delivery context and build their capacity to productively engage with the private and not-for-profit sectors on this issue.

The workshop will equip participants to further understand:

  • What exactly is affordable housing, who needs it and who delivers and manages it;
  • Key cost factors and risks involved in residential development and how these relate to affordable housing delivery and financing;
  • How affordable housing is financed and funded and what factors impact on viability;
  • Potential ways in which planning system could be structured to create value to support affordable housing delivery.

The Workshop is targeted to all local government statutory, strategic and social planners and housing officers and is proposed to be run in mid-May, subject to a minimum number of participants.

Note - date and time to be confirmed. Eventbrite date is not confirmed.
