Winner announced at the online event on 1st Nov. 2020!

Here's the good news - anyone can be a slam poet! If you can rant, that’s poetry. If you can rap, that's poetry. Can you speak your mind in 3 minutes or less? Then you need to enter the Youth Poetry Slam!

Check out the videos below for a taste of what you can achieve.

  1. Register your interest now
  2. Create your awesome poem
  3. Film your performance
  4. Submit your video by 16 Oct.
  5. Tune in to the Youth Poetry Slam online on 1 Nov. to see if you've won!

Note: Our free mentoring and studio sessions are now full, but you can still be part of the slam until the entry limit is reached. Register now to avoid disappointment.

You can register yourself or team; on behalf of a young person; or for your school / organisation.

What is Poetry Slam?

A poetry slam is (usually) a live spoken word competition – but this year, we’re taking it online! That means no nasty stage fright. Instead you’ll send us a video of yourself; then sit back and enjoy!

Why do I need to register my interest?

Entrants to the Youth Poetry Slam need to register their interest by 4th September 2020. This will give you access to mentoring and filming opportunities. After this date, you need to register for a place in the Slam.

If I register, do I have to go in it?

No. You can register now, and decide later. You should register even if you don't have a poem or team ready yet.

What does it cost?

It's all FREE! Thanks to Tweed Shire Council, this opportunity is free for all young people aged 12-24 residing in the Northern Rivers.
