Event description
Presentation and exploration on post-school intentions of students on ATAR pathways at regional schools, focusing on particular issues in SA

About this Event

Regional transitions to university: regional students’ further education intentions, opportunities and barriers.

Presenters: Sharron King and Cathy Stone

This two-hour workshop will present and explore the findings from recent research, conducted by the NCSEHE for the NSW Department of Education, on the post-school intentions of students on ATAR pathways at regional schools.

An overview of research commencing in 2020 to build on and extend this research within the South Australian context will also be presented. Discussion will focus on particular issues that regional high school students may be facing within South Australia, that may be impacting on their further education choices.

Input from participants will be sought in relation to the 2020 research, to help to inform the research planning process.

The workshop is aimed at university equity practitioners, as well as other academic and professional staff with an interest in the educational opportunities and outcomes for students at regional high schools.
